For over a decade this trio of brother and sister Kelt and Colleen Eccleston and their 'adopted brother' multi-instrumentalist, Greg Madill have been captivating audiences with their unique musicality, riveting original material, stunning harmonies and energizing stage presence.
They are nomads of a sort all growing up all across Canada from Vancouver to Newfoundland and offering a vantage point rare in contemporary folk /pop music. There is a joy here of performing, a sense of humour, a purpose, that brings audiences everywhere to their feet and leaves them with a song in their heart. Voted ' The best live act on Vancouver Island' 2004 MPOWER Awards, they have toured extensively playing concerts, folk clubs, State Fairs, and festivals all over BC, Alberta, Montana and the Pacific Northwest. With 4 cds to their credit, they are just as comfortable with their traditional roots as they are as accomplished songwriters. Their music has been featured on CBC and CKUA radio as well as College and University stations across the country, feature articles in 'Keltika Magazine' in Italy, reviews in 'Penguin Eggs', and played on Highlander radio across the US . They have appeared nationally on Madly Off in all Directions and Canada AM. Their video of 'Life Goes ON' was featured and in rotation on 'World Beat' and the 'M channel'. Their instrumentation features penny whistle, guitar, bass, Irish Bouzouki, Mandolin and Bodhran. Everyone writes, everyone sings. To quote Irish music icon Ron Kavana" 'The Ecclestons ' are like an old fashioned folk band: real songs, real harmony". Released in November 2005 their latest cd 'Release the Hounds' is all original material and is distributed in Canada by Warner Music. |
